S3 Ep55 Transcript: How to Create a Rinse-and-Repeat Content System to Grow on Instagram
00:00
You're running a business, serving clients, managing a million things. You don't have time to wake up every day scrambling for content ideas or spending hours glued to Instagram. That's why I'm excited to share with you today my exact rinse and repeat content system so you can implement everything we've been talking about in this four part mini series on how to make money on Instagram with less stress and more confidence. Are you ready? Let's do it.
00:30
Welcome to Strut It, a podcast about creating bold visibility on social media with zero apologies. I'm Elizabeth Marberry, your host and Instagram marketing coach. I help small business owners get seen on Instagram and monetize their offers so they can make more money doing their sole lead work. If you're tired of spinning your wheels on Instagram and you're seeking simple, proven Instagram marketing strategies that actually work, you're in the right place.
00:59
Let's dive in.
01:08
As always, welcome back to the show. I'm rolling out the red carpet and welcoming you to part four of this four part mini series on how to make more money on Instagram with your organic content. I'm Elizabeth Marberry, your hostess with the mostest, and I have to laugh every time I hear my intro music. I just start dancing. I hope you do too. I hope it gets you excited to learn new things.
01:34
and implement because if you want new results, you must take new action. So thank you for being here with me and investing in yourself and your business. In part one of this series, we broke down exactly how an organic content funnel works. Part two, we dove into the five types of content that are converting right now on Instagram.
01:58
Part three, we explored how most sales actually happen, which is in the DMs or direct messages, and how you can automate your DM strategy to make sales feel effortless. Today, we're closing out this series by answering the big question. How do you actually make this happen as a busy business owner who is not a full-time content creator? Because let's be real.
02:25
You are doing all the things. Yeah, you might even have an awesome team, but I'm guessing if you're listening to this podcast, you're not a full-time content creator, you have payroll to run, you have inventory to manage, you get to be the visionary of your company. There's a lot of different moving pieces. And so my goal in this episode is to share with you my exact rinse and repeat content system so you can implement everything we've been talking about in this series.
02:55
even when you're having those off days, even when you're feeling really overwhelmed or busy or low energy or just not feeling it. And I'm excited to share with you some things that I do so I can continue to show up consistently for my business and my brand on Instagram. So why do you need a rinse and repeat content system? The biggest content creation mistakes business owners make is they create content in a reactive way.
03:24
So posting only when they feel inspired or they're constantly reinventing the wheel instead of working smarter, or maybe they burn out because they think they have to be on Instagram every single day. So the fix for this is really what we're gonna talk about today, which is this rinse and repeat content system. So instead of waking up and thinking, what do I post today? You already have a system in place that keeps your content strategy optimized.
03:53
and organized, it saves you hours each week and allows you to show up even when you're low energy or not feeling creative because I don't know about you, I'm a really high energy person. I am not vibrating at this level seven days a week. You can ask my husband and also PS, if you saw me first thing in the morning, you would say, is this the same Elizabeth that I hear on the podcast? Like this is a different human. I need a full hour to wake up before I even.
04:20
do anything in the morning. I'm very slow in the morning. But your business needs content. That's the truth. Your business does need content. If you want to be successful on Instagram, if you want to use social media to drive leads and sales for your business, content is king. But you don't need to be on Instagram 24 seven and you certainly don't need to be stressing about it all the time. All right, so I'm going to break this down in three easy steps. And of
04:50
with my private and group clients, I go deep on this and I also really customize it to you and your business and your energetic blueprint, because all of us are different. All of us create in different ways. All of us have different energetic blueprints. And so please take these steps in and just see what resonates for you. And as always, here's how I don't get overwhelmed when I uptake new information, is I listen for like the one thing.
05:19
the one thing that I can go and do today or I can go and do this week. And trust that as you continue to do those 1% upgrades, your business will be completely different in a year from now, okay? So listen in for that one thing that you're gonna do differently moving forward. Step one, I want you to build a content bank so you never run out of ideas.
05:45
This is for you if you ever sit down to post and you immediately feel blank and that's why you really need a content bank. So ideas are always ready to go. There's so many different ways you can do this. Here's a couple of ways. One is simple. You can create a Google Doc or maybe a Notion page. I'm not a Notion expert. I'm actually working on it. Notion is a project management software tool that you can use.
06:12
or maybe it's just your notes app where you store content ideas. And I want you to add new ideas into this document. Where do these ideas come from? Anytime you get questions from your clients or customers or prospects, that is like marketing gold. Anything that your prospects say to you, any questions they have, any struggles or desires they have, you need to dump into this Google Doc, okay?
06:41
or maybe you listened to last week's episode and now you're having awesome direct message conversations with people on Instagram and the DMs and they're asking you questions, that is content gold. So you're gonna dump that into this Google Doc. Now, this episode is not about AI, it's not about ChatGPT, but if you're not already using ChatGPT, please take some time, learn how to use this tool because it's a great tool.
07:11
to brainstorm content ideas that are really gonna be tailored to your specific niche, your specific audience. I did a whole four part mini series on how to use it. So you can go back and listen to that. And if you are going to be joining Hot Reels soon, I actually just created a custom GPT, which what does that mean? It's basically a custom bot that I built for my clients.
07:38
to help you create better content on Instagram with way less stress and way less time. So if you're on the wait list for Hot Reels, if you join the program, you'll get access to that bot, but either way you can use ChatGPT. And if you're thinking, wait, what is she talking about? I wanna get on the wait list for this. You can DM me the word hot. Hot Reels is my 12 month Instagram content lab. It's a group marketing mentorship with me. It's a live container.
08:08
I wanna clarify that because I got a message the other day from a prospect and she was like, I am so done with courses, Elizabeth. I do not wanna do a course. And I'm like, this is not a course. This is a live group coaching program, okay? So if you're interested in that, DM me the word hot on Instagram, you can join our wait list. But going back to how to create your content bank, you're gonna have your Google Doc or your notes page, or maybe you have a project management software that you use.
08:36
and you're gonna add ideas from clients, from DM conversations, and you can do a lot of target market research using ChatGPT or AI. Next, you can organize these ideas into categories, and I would definitely use ChatGPT to essentially copy your brain dump and ask it to organize it into authority content. What is the content that establishes you as an authority? That's that educational informational content.
09:06
Connection content, that is the kind of content that invokes emotion, maybe it's vulnerable, maybe it's showing that behind the scenes. And then social proof content, like experiences of your past customers or clients. Why do people love your store? Why do people love your brand? What is it about your products or your team that just keeps people coming back for more? It's you, it's your team, it's your whole brand vibe. And so kind of...
09:34
putting it into those three buckets can really be helpful. And then the fourth bucket could be promo. So, you know, promo is just simply like, what are you selling? What are your products or services? What is the next step that I need to take if I'm on your Instagram and I'm curious about your service? What do I do next? And so you can kind of group your content ideas into those four buckets. So your homework is today, I want you to start your content bank.
10:02
and just aim for at least 10 content ideas in there to kick it off. Step two, and this is so major because I'm sure many of you have already done the whole content idea dump and then it just lives in your Google doc forever and then you never do it. Okay, so step two is really important. You're gonna batch content in high vibe sessions, okay? High vibe sessions, what does that mean?
10:30
It means when you are feeling energized, okay? When you've slept well, when you showered, when you got dressed, I don't know about you, I live in yoga pants, so when I put on jeans, I'm like, I am so fancy today, I am upleveling it. Actually, side note, one of my business bestie, my colleague and friend, she said, Elizabeth, there's really only two versions of you. It's like disheveled, yoga, just woke up, sweatpants vibe.
10:59
and then red carpet. You're either totally red carpet ready or you are in your yoga sweatpants, which is so true. And I love that about myself actually. I love that there's just really no in between. It's just one or the other. But anyways, on those days where I shower, I have client meetings or I know that I'm gonna be on and my energy is gonna be turned up. Those are the days where I try to create my content.
11:25
Because if I create content when I'm like really low energy and I'm just in that place of shoulding myself, like, oh, I have to do this, I should make this video, the video just performs poorly because people can read other people's energy. We do it day in and day out, right? If you hate what you're doing and what you're creating, it's gonna come through on camera. So I want you to identify like, is there a day in my week that I could carve out a chunk of time?
11:54
and create content every single week. And that is really, really helpful. So here's how you're gonna do this. Step one, you're gonna set aside one deep focus work session. This session is going to be filming content, okay? You're not gonna edit it, you're not gonna write all the hooks, you're not gonna write the captions, you're not gonna do the hashtags, you're just gonna film content. You can change outfit. And by the way, I said two hours.
12:24
I do this in 30 minutes, but that's because I create content all the time. So I can do it very quickly for you. It might take you two hours. It might take you 30 minutes. I don't know, but I want you to dedicate a chunk of time where you're just creating and filming content. Okay. And then on a different day. So now you don't have to be on camera, right? It's all already recorded for you and you've saved it to your drafts. You've saved it to your camera roll. So it's ready to go.
12:52
On another day, you're gonna dedicate another chunk of dedicated times, I would say at least an hour, if not two hours, to editing the videos, writing the hooks, writing the captions, and scheduling the posts. Now, you can use a scheduler like MetraCool. I will link to that resource in the show notes. I use MetraCool to track the analytics on my account. I actually don't use it to schedule.
13:22
because a lot of these schedulers, you can't schedule any kind of trending audio. And I use a lot of trending audio in my work. So I don't actually use a scheduler to be honest with you. I save everything in my drafts folder. And then when I'm ready to post each day, I just go in and give it a quick look over, make sure it's looking good. And then I post it. So you need to figure out what works best for you, but I will link in Metro Cool.
13:48
Even if you don't wanna use Metricool for scheduling, like I said, it's worth it for the analytics and there's a totally awesome free version you can check out. So you're gonna pick a content creation day and you're gonna pick a content writing and scheduling day and you're gonna put this in your calendar. I shared with you guys last week that I went to a dance class. If I hadn't put the dance class in my calendar, I wouldn't have gone to the dance class. I mean, I have two businesses, I have two kids, I have a husband, I have a lot going on in my life.
14:16
If it's not on my calendar, it's not gonna happen. So if you're struggling with time management and wondering how to fit this into your schedule, you've just gotta block it off. Like if this is a priority for you, you need to step it up and you need to block off dedicated time and you're gonna feel so good. Once you can figure out a cadence of doing this every week, it's gonna get easier. Maybe you dedicate two hours now and then in six months from now, you're like, oh my gosh, Elizabeth, I can do it in an hour. Like this is incredible.
14:46
So remember, this is a skill you're building. It's gonna get easier. It's gonna take you less time, but it starts with plugging it into your calendar. So step one, you built a content bank. Step two, you batch content in your high vibe sessions. And step three, this is our final step for today, repurpose and reuse your best content. Remember, your audience doesn't see everything you post, and even if they do,
15:14
Repetition is what makes your messaging stick. So stop making things harder than they need to be. I didn't come up with this quote and I don't know who originally did. Marketing is not saying 100 different things with 100 different posts. The best kind of marketing is saying one thing a hundred different times in different ways, okay? In other words, repurposing your ideas.
15:42
your formulas, your content formats that do work and convert. So how do you do this? One, you check your Instagram insights. So you go into your professional dashboard, you can run a report for the last 90 days and find the posts with the highest shares and saves and views and engagement. And you can even see which posts brought you in the most followers. And then what you're gonna do is you can A,
16:11
repost the exact same video, same audio, same captions, same hashtags, literally all the same. Two, you can repost the same video and tweak the caption, or maybe you tweak a couple different things in the video, like the text on the screen, so you can kind of play with it. Or you can notice what kind of content did really well and repurpose that into a carousel post. So let's say this was a reel where I was breaking down my...
16:39
you know, content funnel, and then I can teach that in the caption, right? But I can teach those same steps, step by step, in a carousel where I'm teaching it slide by slide. So that's what I mean about you're taking an idea and you're repurposing it into another content type, like a carousel. Don't be afraid to repeat key messages, okay? Your audience really needs to hear things multiple times before it clicks. I cannot tell you.
17:09
how many times I post about what I do every single day publicly on all of the social media apps and sometimes someone will still say, Elizabeth, are you still teaching, you know, dance classes? And I'm like, sister, I haven't been teaching dance classes for over five years. Like where have you been? And so this is just highlighting the point that people don't know what you do. You have to really be relentless in talking about your company.
17:36
your product, your service, and having fun with your content. So that way people want to binge on it and come back for more. So your homework is to look at your best performing posts from the past 90 days and plan a repurposed version of it. A bonus tip for this episode is for those days when you don't have the energy to be on camera,
18:00
or maybe that day that you are wanting to batch film content, but you're just like, I don't have the time to, you know, record a script and me talking to the camera, I just need it to be really quick and easy. I recommend that you record B-roll content. So that is that behind the scenes content of you just living your life, whatever you do day to day, going for a walk, sitting on your porch, reading a book, writing in your journal, pouring a cup of coffee, whatever it is.
18:27
Now here's the pro tip to stay consistent without stress is you're gonna keep a B-roll folder on your phone. If you have an iPhone, you can create a new album and I'm sure with Android you can do the same. So you're gonna have an album and you're gonna label it B-roll and then as each week when you record any kind of B-roll clips, you can put them in this album and then when it comes time to post for your business, you already have all of these videos ready to go.
18:56
It's very simple to just slap on a hook, a caption, some hashtags, and you are done. You are ready to rock with your content. So make it really as simple for yourself as possible. And the more you can make it simple for yourself, the more likely you will be to continue to show up. On Instagram, you'll be more consistent. As you're more consistent, your content will start to get better over time.
19:24
you will start to get some videos that pop off and you will, will find your people. And assuming that you have a really clear strategy in place of how to get these people off of Instagram, you will absolutely drive leads and sales to your business. If content is your biggest struggle, remember you need to get on the Hot Reels wait list. If you're showing up on Instagram, but struggling to create scroll stopping content that actually grows your audience,
19:52
